City of Fallen Angels {The Mortal of Instruments Book #4}

City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4)
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare

Number of Pages: 424
Genre(s): Romance, Fantasy
Books Like It: City of Bones, Clockwork Angel
My Favorite Quote: “You're just worried they'll hire a male instructor and he'll be hotter than you."
Jace's eyebrows went up. "Hotter than me?"
"It could happen," Clary said, "You know, theoretically."
"Theoretically the planet could suddenly crack in half, leaving me on one side and you on the other, forever and tragically parted, but I'm not worried about that either. Some things," Jace said, with his customary crooked smile, "are just too unlikely to dwell upon."

Brief Synopsis from Goodreads:
The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And - most importantly of all - she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.

But nothing comes without a price.

Someone is murdering Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second bloody war. Clary's best friend, Simon, can't help her. His mother just found out that he's a vampire and now he's homeless. Everywhere he turns, someone wants him on their side - along with the power of the curse that's wrecking his life. And they're willing to do anything to get what they want. At the same time he's dating two beautiful, dangerous girls - neither of whom knows about the other one.

When Jace begins to pull away from Clary without explaining why, she is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: She herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. The stakes are higher than ever in City of Fallen Angels.

My review:
Ohmygosh I am so glad that Jace and Clary are NOT brother and sister and they can finally love each other. I was literally jumping for joy when I said that.
And just when their relationship should get easier, it gets HARDER because Jace starts to withdraw from Clary and close off his feelings without explaining why. And now that the Mortal War is over, you might think, mmmmh, no more antagonists and no more problems. Wrong! The Mortal Instruments has now turned in to a murder mystery with someone killing off creatures and just, ahh! This book is so creepy if you keep reading because you MUST know who is killing everyone around here. Gah.

And you also meet Kyle who is actually a huge surprise that I can't and will not say, for your sake. Also, the end is so page turning you might rip the pages trying to get through it faster. Not that I did that, or anything.

Pros: Cassie still writes so amazingly. And I love Jace.
Cons: I have never gotten the romance between Magnus and Alec. Gay people are just really weird and no offense to them but I don't support or like gay people. I choose to ignore Alec and Magnus's gay relationship and will skip their parts in the story. I will never understand how you could feel that- ugh. Nevermind.

Review:
4 stars, just because Jace did not have as much sarcastic humor in this one. :(
