My favorite quote:
“Basia coquum," Simon said. "Or whatever their motto is."

"Darn it," said Simon. "I knew Jace was messing with me.”

Brief Synopsis from Goodreads:
The New York Times bestselling Mortal Instruments continues—and so do the thrills and danger for Jace, Clary, and Simon.

What price is too high to pay, even for love? When Jace and Clary meet again, Clary is horrified to discover that the demon Lilith’s magic has bound her beloved Jace together with her evil brother Sebastian, and that Jace has become a servant of evil. The Clave is out to destroy Sebastian, but there is no way to harm one boy without destroying the other. As Alec, Magnus, Simon, and Isabelle wheedle and bargain with Seelies, demons, and the merciless Iron Sisters to try to save Jace, Clary plays a dangerous game of her own. The price of losing is not just her own life, but Jace’s soul. She’s willing to do anything for Jace, but can she still trust him? Or is he truly lost?

Love. Blood. Betrayal. Revenge. Darkness threatens to claim the Shadowhunters in the harrowing fifth book of the Mortal Instruments series.

My review:
Clary has the biggest dilemma in all of the books so far. Curse stupid Sebastian! When the City of Fallen Angels ended, Clary left Jace for five minutes and he was stolen! Well, in this book she finds him, that is true. But something has happened to him. He is now besties with the antagonist, the filthy Sebastian, and the angelic demon slaying Jace Wayland that I have always loved is now a bad guy!

He still loves Clary and watches out for her, but he has no sense of right and wrong. And to Clary's horror, she can't hurt Sebastian without doing the same damage to Jace. There seems to be no way to reverse it, either, and together the brothers are planning something terrible that could change the world as we know it forever. Clary must make the ultimate choice: Will she keep Jace alive, or destroy both him and Sebastian to save the world?!?!?!

I HATE SEBASTIAN! He is a cruel, self-serving monster! How dare he steal my Jace and connect him to himself so Clary won't kill him. I am also still ticked about Simon being a vampire.....but glad that Jace and Clary are actually not related. I have some tips: Do not read this book until January of 2014, otherwise, the wait for City of Heavenly Fire will be long and painful. Also, if you are a Jace Wayland fan like me, bring some tissues, or a punching bag, whatever works.

Clary has not always been one of my favorite heroines, I mostly just kept reading the books because of the tense plot and to read more about Jace. However, Clary was really brave and unselfish in this book and she really showed her true colors. You go girl, is what I say. Plus, red heads rock! All you have to do is watch Doctor Who with his companion Amy Pond to know this.

In conclusion, this book hurt when I got to the ending, it was that bad of a cliffhanger. A cruel, sad romantic twist? Check. A nefarious evil villain? Check. An epic battle of Good vs. Evil? Check. A life changing decision? Check. A tense plot? Check. My cute angelic Jace? Check. That same witty humor? Check. A book you can never forget? Check.

Pros: This book was a really good idea, so hats off to Cassie for doing a wonderful job. She developed her characters even more and had an EPIC and descriptive battle. Jace didn't have as much sarcastic humor as I had hoped he would have, Simon was actually really funny in this one though, so it made up for it. Clary was smart and reckless, but aren't all good heroines? Sebastian was one bad, bad, brother.

Cons: I thought after City of Glass that everything was over! And then the fourth one came out followed by the fifth and I thought the fifth was the last one! Well, apparently NOT because there is the sixth one, the City of Heavenly Fire, coming out NEXT YEAR! How will I make it through? I am not sure that I can. :( oh well, I waited until all five were out to start reading them for a reason, though.

Review: 4 stars, just because the cliffhanger was so bad, and because Sebastian did that evil thing to Jace. How dare he. Anyone else excited for the movie?
