My Favorite Quote:“There is no pretending," Jace said with absolute clarity. "I love you, and I will love you until I die, and if there is life after that, I'll love you then.”
Brief Synopsis from Goodreads:
To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.

As Clary uncovers more about her family's past, she finds an ally in mysterious Shadowhunter Sebastian. With Valentine mustering the full force of his power to destroy all Shadowhunters forever, their only chance to defeat him is to fight alongside their eternal enemies. But can Downworlders and Shadowhunters put aside their hatred to work together? While Jace realizes exactly how much he's willing to risk for Clary, can she harness her newfound powers to help save the Glass City - whatever the cost?

Love is a mortal sin and the secrets of the past prove deadly as Clary and Jace face down Valentine in the final installment of the New York Times bestselling trilogy The Mortal Instruments. (NOT!)

My review:
This was probably one of my favorite books in the entire series, if not my very favorite. Again, do not read this review if you have not read any of the other books in the series.

This book was really page turning. They introduce a new character, Sebastian, who I just did not really like/connect with. He was brought into the story and I was sitting there with my eyebrows raised like what the heck is going on?
Jace wants to go to the City of Glass (more in general Idris, the shadow hunter city) , but for some odd reason he does not want her to go. He fears that the Clave might discover her new ability to create new runes.  He tricks her into staying behind, so then she has to get to the city through a portal, (which she makes with a new rune). Clary is definitely not staying behind if her mother needs her.  She meets Luke's sister, who takes her under her wing.
It is really hard to say much about the book without giving to much away. I will tell you this:
First off, Clary is having a really hard life at the moment. Jace doesn't want her there with him, and she still has feelings for him. Jace, on the other hand, is having a hard time protecting her. After finding out that Valentine is his father, he is determined to hunt him down.
Simon gets thrust through the portal and thrown in prison for being a Daylighter, a vampire who can walk in the sun. Also, the Lightwoods have a serious trust issue and a problem that I won't spoil for you.
At the end, there is a big showdown. Can monsters and Shadowhunters fight alongside, or will Shadowhunters have to battle Valentine and an army of monsters?
What to do about Jace and Clary's forbidden feelings?
Find out in the City of Glass that was NOT the final book in the series, there are actually three more, the City of Fallen Angels, and City of Lost Souls, and also City of Heavenly Fire, the finale, which will be released in March 2014.

Pros: This book was funny, action packed, magical, a great example of good vs. evil, and most of it was very shocking. And, as always, Jace had me LOLing.

Cons: I am absolutely speechless.
Review: 5 stars. I am so excited for the finale, but I will be devastated when this series comes to an end.
